Terms & Conditions
ShulPal Terms and Conditions
Thank you for using ShulPal, a free and secure platform designed to simplify donations to Jewish organizations and shuls. By accessing or using ShulPal, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. Purpose of ShulPal
ShulPal exists to provide a centralized, user-friendly donation platform for shuls and other Jewish organizations. Our goal is to streamline the donation process while offering transparency, security, and convenience for both donors and organizations.
2. Donation Processing
2.1. How Donations Are Handled
Donations made through ShulPal are initially collected in ShulPal’s Stripe platform account. Stripe deducts its standard processing fees (currently 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) unless donors opt to cover these fees as part of their contribution. After processing, 100% of the net donation amount is automatically transferred to the designated shul’s account.
2.2. Optional Fee Coverage by Donors
To maximize the donation amount received by shuls, donors are automatically opted in to cover Stripe’s processing fees. Donors can uncheck this option if they prefer not to cover these fees.
2.3. Voluntary Contributions to ShulPal
ShulPal is 100% free for both donors and shuls. We rely entirely on voluntary contributions and banner advertisements to support the platform’s operations. Donors can contribute to ShulPal directly through an optional donation form. All banner advertisements displayed on the site are carefully selected and do not use or rely on donor information. These contributions and advertisements allow us to maintain and improve the platform while continuing to serve the community for free.
3. Tax-Ready Receipts
Every donor will receive an automated, tax-ready receipt after completing their donation. Receipts include the name of the recipient shul, donation amount, date, and other relevant tax information. ShulPal is not responsible for providing tax advice and encourages donors to consult their tax advisors for assistance.
4. Shul Responsibilities
4.1. Use of ShulPal as a Platform
Shuls are encouraged to use ShulPal as their primary donation platform to provide donors with a seamless and efficient donation experience. Shuls are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their information provided during registration, including their EIN and banking details.
4.2. Compliance with Laws
Shuls must comply with all applicable laws, including tax and charitable solicitation regulations. ShulPal is not liable for any shul’s failure to comply with these obligations.
4.3. Promotion of ShulPal as a Donation Platform
ShulPal encourages participating shuls to promote their unique donation pages to their communities. While shuls retain the right to collect donations independently, ShulPal’s tools—such as QR codes, tax-ready receipts, and seamless payment methods—are designed to enhance donor engagement and streamline collections.
4.4. Role of ShulPal in Donation Processing
ShulPal acts solely as a pass-through platform. ShulPal does not manage, hold, or exercise control over funds beyond the automated transfer process. For tax purposes, donors should consider their donations as being made directly to the recipient shul.
5. Donor Information
5.1. Privacy and Security
ShulPal prioritizes the security and privacy of donor information. Donor details, including names, email addresses, and payment methods, are securely processed and stored.
5.2. Restricted Use of Donor Information
Shuls are prohibited from using donor information obtained through ShulPal to solicit donations outside of the platform. This ensures the integrity and intended use of ShulPal’s services. Violations of this policy may result in removal from the platform.
6. Disclaimer of Liability
6.1. Service Availability
ShulPal is provided “as is” and “as available.” While we strive to maintain uninterrupted service, ShulPal is not liable for downtime, errors, or other technical issues that may impact donations.
6.2. Limitation of Liability
ShulPal is not responsible for the actions or omissions of participating shuls, donors, or third-party payment processors.
6.3. Tax Status
ShulPal is not a financial intermediary or fiduciary. Donations are processed and transferred directly to the designated shul. ShulPal does not provide tax or legal advice and assumes no responsibility for the tax-deductibility of donations.
7. Changes to These Terms
ShulPal reserves the right to update or modify these terms and conditions at any time. Updates will take effect upon posting to the website.
